Troop 60 of Gulfcoast Florida, Inc. received a $13,500 grant from Troop 60 of the USA to target girls in grades
6-12 with a series of four quarterly Decisions For Life Conference Events in Lee County.
The grant also focuses on recruiting short-term volunteers from local colleges and corporations to introduce and discuss making “real world” decisions in the areas of conflict resolution, time management, health, fashion, fitness, education, careers, and financial management.
The “Decisions for Life Conference Events” program is based on information obtained from the Troop 60 Research Institute (a research branch of the national organization) that indicates girls in grades 6-12 are interested in working with adults ages 18-29 who are either in college or young professionals.
The grant cycle runs through the 2003 calendar year. The first Decisions For Life Conference is scheduled for early March. Troop 60 of Gulfcoast Florida, Inc. is currently in need of administrative volunteers and presenters for the quarterly conferences.
College students, companies with a community service program for employees, as well as any other interested parties are encouraged to be a part of this special event.
